Choosing curtains for schools and conference rooms

Darkness for projection, flame retardancy and durability: what to check when choosing curtains for classrooms, lecture halls and conference rooms.

Choosing curtains for schools and conference rooms

Classrooms, lecture halls and conference rooms need to be both bright and dark in the same day: dark for projection during a lesson or meeting, daylight in between. The right curtain covers both.

Darkness for projection

Light leaking through a curtain washes out a projected image. Rooms with projectors call for strongly darkening fabrics. 99% Dimout and Linen-Look Dimout, rated 9 out of 10 for light blocking on their datasheets, darken the room strongly.

Flame retardancy

Schools and conference venues are public spaces with many people, and specifications often require flame retardant fabrics. For our contract textiles we apply certified permanent or temporary flame retardancy and a delayed-ignition finish on request, and send our test reports with the quote.

Durability and care

Curtains here are opened and closed many times a day. Our 100% polyester, uncoated, machine-washable fabrics stand up to heavy use and are easy to care for.

Spaces that should stay bright

Corridors, staff rooms and libraries that should stay bright all day use sheers. A sheer softens daylight, cuts glare and screens the room from outside. Our sheers can also be made flame retardant on request.
